Teaching Sessions
Sessions are 60 minutes of activities designed to target specific learning goals. Close attention is paid to when goals are met, and progress is made visible to students so they see and understand how they're growing. This builds learning confidence. Typically, one session per week is enough to achieve a healthy rate of growth.
Learning activities are selected that match personal interests. Where possible, students have 'voice and choice' over their materials. This increases motivation for learning.
Alterations and accommodations to teaching methods, activities, and the learning environment are made to support any learning conditions.
Communication &
Practice Work
Progress is communicated at the end of each session in an email that explains:
what the student did
how they went
what they should do for practice over the coming week
Practice activities are explained to students during their sessions. All materials that they need are provided. Students are included in this communication to build personal responsibility.
Adults are welcome to communicate via phone, text or email with the teacher at any time.
Start & Finish
Students are requested to get their learning materials (texts, paper, pen, etc.) before the session starts. Sessions commence online at the scheduled time, using the same link each week.Â
